Bank holiday cocktail #1 – Spiced Ginger Daiquiri.

Our first bank holiday cocktail, the spiced ginger daiquiri reflects the weather this weekend in London – trying to be summery with a distinct winter bite. This is reflected in the freshness of the lime juice and the warm spices in the Sailor Jerry’s and the ginger wine.

To make this drink you will need the following:

  • Spiced rum – We’re using old Sailor Jerry which unfortunately isn’t made anymore, the new stuff is adequate but not quite as good. Your favourite spiced rum will do.
  • Lime Juice – Freshly squeezed is essential
  • Ginger wine – Stones’ is the classic, but the Crabbies we had knocking about is great too.
  • Sugar syrup – Made with a 1:1 ratio of cold water and caster sugar, stirred until dissolved.

Combine the ingredients in the following quantities into your favourite cocktail shaker:

  • 40ml spiced rum
  • 10ml Ginger wine
  • 15ml Lime Juice
  • 15ml Sugar syrup

Fill the shaker with cubes of ice, right to the brim and shake as hard as you possibly can for approximately 8 seconds. Strain your cocktail into the most beautiful glass you can find; we’ve got a lovely bit of Waterford crystal here (trust us, it takes the drink up a level).
